Large, heavy meat cleaver forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel.  

The handle is stabilized wood and resin hybrid material.  

5160 is a steel favored for its toughness and strength.  It is used in leaf springs and other high-stress industrial applications, and it well suited to heavy chopping tools.
